Vintage Vari Di Bagh wedding dupatta is given by the bridegroom's family whereas rest of the phulkaris the bride brings from her family. It is a heavily embroidered dupatta on a handwoven khaddar base with a silk floss thread. This pattern has concentric lozenges of a growing size included in each other in a hypnotic fashion with a dominant najar battu. Regardless of only one colour of pat is used, these lozenges are easily revealed by the reflections of light. The bride was wrapped in this Bagh by her mother in law while she hands over the house keys. This later became the family keepsake and was inherited by the boy's bride on their wedding day. In West Punjab, following the birth of a boy, it was customary to start a Vari-Da-Bagh, and the grandmother would place the first stitch.
